After two years in digital format due to the pandemic of Covid-19 the biggest Portuguese wine event in Brazil is back for another edition in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
The 9th edition of wines in Portugal happens between 3 and 5, in Rio and June 9th to 11th, in São Paulo. The program includes several activities such as a tasting room, talk shows, wine bars and many other attractions.
This is the perfect opportunity to try new labels: Brazilians are great consumers of Portuguese wine and an important audience for their wineries, but it is not always possible to go to Portugal to discover and meet new producers.
It is worth mentioning during the event the special tests, what count on the participation of producers and winemakers, and will be conducted by Dirceu Vianna Junior the only representative of the Portuguese language recognized with the title of Master of Wine (largest title of excellence and professionalization in wines in the world, offered by the Master Of Wine Institute, in London), in addition to the critics Jorge Lucki and Manuel Carvalho.
Winemakers and friends Sandra Tavares and Susana Esteban, who together produce the “Crochet” and “Tricot” wines, and Herdade do Mouchão will be present in some of the special tasting sessions.
Under themes such as “New Portuguese icons”, “Rare wines and their mysteries” and “The fascination of Port wine”, the tastings will present renowned wines, such as Niepoort Bairrada Lote D 2017, Quinta Nova Referência P29/P21 and Bacalhôa Moscatel Roxo Rosé 2020, with some of them even more than three decades old, as is the case of Niepoort Colheita 1984.
In tastings that are attended by the producers, the public will still be able to learn more details and curiosities about the wines while tasting them.
Tasting room and living areas

There will be more than 80 producers participating in the event with their wines on display and being able to be tasted in the stands of the tasting room, which will have new relevant participants, such as Mouchão Winery, taboadella, Quinta do Paral and, of course, those already known to the public Niepoort wines, Luis Pato, Anselmo Mendes, Carthusian winerybetween others.
The event will have a living area with free admission, where talk shows will be promoted with chefs, artists, presenters, journalists and renowned producers about wines, gastronomy and culture.
Among the confirmed names are the chefs Rafael Costa e Silva, Claude Troisgros and Emmanuel Bassoleil; the sommelier and columnist Elaine de Oliveira; and the journalists Luciana Fróes, Rodrigo Bocardi and Monica Salgado.
The area will also feature wine bars, the House of Wine wine store in Rio de Janeiro, food trucks such as Casa das Natas, Tasquinha do Portuga, Vulcano and Espírito de Porco, and much more.
The public of both cities will still be able to enjoy the happy hours with drinks made with wine, sponsored by José Maria da Fonseca, producer from the Setúbal Peninsula.
