Biggest transmission auction in three years could have an investment of R$ 15.3 billion

considered the biggest auction transmission since 2019, 13 lots will be tendered next Thursday (30), at 10 am, at the headquarters of B3 , in Sao Paulo. The winner will be responsible for the construction and maintenance of 5,425 km of transmission lines and 6,180 megavolt-amperes (MVA) in substation transformation capacity.

According to the federal government, the investment is expected to be R$ 15.3 billion, with a forecast of generating 31,697 direct jobs during the period of construction of the facilities. It is estimated that the works will last from 42 to 60 months.

The transmission lines will cover the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, Rondônia, Santa Catarina, São Paulo and Sergipe.

THE National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) will be responsible for operating the auction.

Investment

Most of the planned investment is concentrated in the first three lots. Of the BRL 15.3 billion projected, BRL 12.27 billion will be for large-scale transmission, capable of flowing photovoltaic renewable energy in Minas Gerais.

“Investments in a robust transmission system will allow new investments in energy generation, especially in the North region of Minas, which has a low human development index (HDI), bringing more jobs and opportunities,” said the federal government.

The purpose of the investments is also to improve service conditions in Acre and Amazonas, especially the integration of the Humaitá region (AM), which is currently isolated from the National Interconnected System (SIN).

Lots 8 to 12 belong to areas that have already been bid for, but which have not had the projects implemented and have expired contracts already declared by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME). They have an estimated investment of R$ 2.19 billion.

The project also includes a transmission network in the region of Novo Progresso (PA) and in Amapá. The transmission network in Pará should bring investment to other infrastructure sectors, such as mining, according to the government statement.
