Bill Burr was 10th June, 1968 born in Canton, Massachusetts to Linda Ann, who worked as a nurse, and Robert Edmund Burr, who worked as a dentist. Burr has a German-Irish heritage. He was interested in show-bizz since a very young age and to pursue his dream he got enrolled in Boston’s Emerson College in 1993 for a bachelor’s degree in radio.  

Before becoming a comedian, Burr used to work in warehouses, later stating that he enjoyed the freedom of the job. In one of his comedy shows he went on to say, “If my boss gave me a rough time, I could just get on a forklift and just, like, drive away.”

Burr began working towards his career in 1992, after he shifted to New York. After a bit of a struggle, he made his debut in comedy series named Townies (1996). In 2001, his debut movie Perfect Fit got released, which earned him a lot of recognition in the industry. 

In 2007, he started recording a weekly one-hour podcast for Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast. The podcast can still be accessed on All Things Comedy Network and also on his website.  In 2008, his voice was featured in the game Grand Theft Auto IV as Jason Michaels of the biker gang The Lost MC in the mission “No Love Lost”. In 2009, he reprised his role in the game’s expansion pack The Lost and Damned.   

He has made several guest appearances on comedy and radio shows such as You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes, The Nerdist Podcast, Opie and Anthony, and many more.  Other than this he has appeared as Detective Walsh in the movie Date Night. He has appeared as Patrick Kuby in the fourth and fifth seasons of AMC’s Breaking Bad. 

He also hosted NBC’s Saturday Night Live for the first time on October 10, 2020, and gave a speech which led to ‘trending’ praise and criticism on social media. In this speech, he went on to talk about cancel culture, wearing masks during the ongoing pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement being “hijacked” by white women. 

Burr’s comedy falls under several genres, and hence he has not limited himself to perform under on specific comedy. He has done black comedy, observational comedy, off color humor, insult comedy, blue comedy satire and sarcasm. Throughout his career, he has talked about different and diverse topics including dating, religion, self-depreciation, career, conspiracy theories, politics, marriage and more.

In 2013, Burr got married to director, producer, and writer Nia Hill. They are still happily married, and the couple has a daughter Lola Burr, born on January 20, 2017. 

Along with comedy and radio, Burr has also always been interested in playing the drums, and does so during his free time. He likes Heavy Metal music genre and is a fan of Iron Maiden, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin. Other than this, he is also a licensed helicopter pilot.

Burr is a car enthusiast and is known to own several expensive vehicles including his new favorite Jaguar that he usually drives in while going to attend public and social appearances. Other than this he is a licensed helicopter pilot and has recently hinted towards buying a chopper for himself.
