The scenery of beaches covered with canvas and tents that even prevent sunbathing in the sand may have their days numbered in Ubatuba, on the north coast of São Paulo.
A legislative bill prohibits the installation of tents, tents, gauzebes and similar structures in all 102 beaches of the municipality. Those who fail will have the arrangement seized by the inspection and will pay $ 1,000 to re-read it. It also receives a fine of $ 1,000 for the infraction of the law.
But the project still depends on the sanction of Mayor Flávia Pascoal (PL). If the standard is sanctioned, there will be a period of 60 days for regulation. The report sought Ubatuba City Hall to comment on the House’s initiative and awaits return.
The new rule allows the use of umbrellas up to three meters in diameter and opens exceptions for previously authorized events and support structures to public agencies or licensed service providers. The walking tents are also allowed at points fixed by the city, usually on the edge of the sand strip.
The measure focuses mainly on the busiest beaches of the city, such as Praia Grande, Itamambuca, Tenório Beach and Toninhas. In these, tents and tents occupy large spaces. The problem is smaller on the beaches farther from the center and the islands, such as Anchieta.
The project, which was unanimously approved at the session of Tuesday, 29, provides that the amounts collected with the fines and seizures will be destined to the Municipal Tourism Fund and the Social Fund.
According to the author of the proposal, Councilman Gady Gonzalez (MDB), the goal is to give tourist more accessibility to the ordinary areas of the waterfront and avoid safety risks. “There is a disordered occupation of the beaches, which has made life life work, because it hinders the visibility for rescue, and causes an increase in cases of lost children,” says the councilman who is also mayor.
According to him, the beauty of the beaches disappears under the profusion of tents and tents, which even make it difficult to traffic bathers by the sand strip. The situation gets worse in high season, when the city receives a large number of tourists. “You can’t walk, not even sunbathe. The whole beach is covered by tents and tents. It’s a regulation to change the face of our city,” he says.
The Ubatuba Commercial Association declared support for the proposal. According to President Adriano Klopfer, urban planning is important to attract sustainable tourism and the development of the city with preservation and attention, not only to tourists, but also to the local population.
Ubatuba already charges a tour of the tourist that seeks its beaches. The environmental preservation rate is charged from each vehicle outside that is more than four hours in the city and varies according to the type of vehicle. The values in force this year are R $ 3.69 per day for motorcycles, R $ 13.73 for passenger cars and R $ 20.59 for utilities. Excursion vans pay R $ 41.18, minibuses and trucks R $ 62.30, and buses are charged R $ 97.14.
