Spend time with the singer Billie Eilish and you will notice your tics.
The music star spoke about having Tourette’s Syndrome during an interview with David Letterman for your series Netflix “Next Guest Needs No Introduction”.
Billie, who was diagnosed at age 11 with the neurological disorder, which can cause uncontrollable, unwanted vocalizations and/or repetitive movements, said people sometimes don’t understand what’s going on.
“The most common way people react is to laugh because they think I’m trying to be funny,” she said. “And I’m always incredibly offended.”
The Grammy winner said other artists have shared with her that they also have Tourette syndrome, but said she “wouldn’t share them because they don’t want to talk about it.”
She said that while some of her tics have subsided, she still has some subtle ones.
“These are things you would never notice if you were just talking to me,” Eilish said. “But for me they are very tiring.”
Billie is happy to talk about it as it is “interesting” to her, who further revealed that she has no tics while performing.
“When I’m moving around, I’m not even ticking,” he joked.
