Billie Eilish says new album is a return to her 2019 self

The third studio album by Billie Eilish , “Hit Me Hard and Soft” will be released on May 17, just over five years after their 2019 debut album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” . According to the singer, the two works have a lot in common.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Billie Eilish said she had to get in touch with her darker side for the new production, and that it reminded her of this period.

“I feel like this album is me,” she said of “Hit Me Hard and Soft.”

“It’s not a character. It sounds like my version of “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” It feels like my youth and who I was as a kid,” he added.

The singer said she missed the version of herself that existed in 2019, at the beginning of her career, when she was just 17 years old.

“It was the best time of my life. This whole process felt like I was getting back to the girl I was. I have been mourning her. I've been looking for her in everything and it's almost like she's been drowned out by the world and the media. I don’t remember when she left,” explained the singer.
