Billionaire says he wants to freeze his own body to be revived in the future

the billionaire Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal, said he intends to leave his body frozen after death, so that he can be resuscitated in the future – although he doubts the procedure. The statement was made during an interview on the podcast Honestly with Bari Weiss, by American journalist Bari Weiss.

Asked if humanity is capable of overcoming death, Thiel said that “we haven’t even tried yet. We should try to overcome death, or at least understand why it is impossible.”

The businessman also stated that he considers the process of human cryogenics, a technique that allows cooling the human body to a temperature of -196ºC, “an ideological position”. “I don’t necessarily expect it to work, but I think it’s the kind of thing we should try to do,” he said, revealing that he would accept leaving his body frozen after his death.

However, when asked if he plans to freeze his loved ones too, Thiel changed his tone and stated that he is still not convinced that the technology works as intended: “It’s something else we need to try. But we are not there yet.”

PayPal co-founder, Facebook’s first outside investor and former advisor to Meta, Peter Thiel has a net worth of $4.2 billion, according to Forbes.

Thiel has been a decades-long contributor to anti-aging research and has expressed an interest in being frozen before. Recently, his foundation supported a company that studies freezing animals after death so they can be resuscitated. The billionaire often says that the human race is distracted by cultural struggles when it should be focusing on other issues, like curing cancer.

“I always think I’m not doing enough in biotechnology and life extension, or even just investing in curing the major chronic diseases that we have,” he told Weiss. She even added that she would invest billions in biotechnology if she could find the right people: “the main problem is finding someone with good ideas, with the potential to take a step forward”.
