Binance Promises to Help Kazakh Authorities Fight Crypto Crimes

Crypto exchange Binance and the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed a memorandum on joint counteraction to crimes involving digital assets.

The world’s largest crypto exchange and the supervisory authority expressed interest in the safe development of cryptocurrency markets in the country and agreed to exchange data on the identification and blocking of digital assets obtained by criminal means. Tigran Gambaryan, Vice President of Global Intelligence and Investigations at Binance, assured that the platform will engage with the authorities regarding the illegal use of cryptocurrencies and sanctions restrictions:

“Binance has an industry-wide compliance program that includes anti-money laundering (AML) and global sanctions principles, as well as tools to proactively detect suspicious accounts and fraudulent activity.”

The parties promised to inform each other about cases of discovery of crypto assets intended for laundering proceeds from crime and used to finance terrorism.

The signing of the Memorandum took place as part of the Binance global program for training representatives of regulators and law enforcement agencies. The main goal is to develop the cooperation of the ecosystem with local and international authorities in the fight against cyber and financial crimes. The Binance Law Enforcement Training Program operates in France, Germany, Italy, the UK, Norway, Canada, Brazil, Paraguay, and Israel. Through cooperation with law enforcement, Binance was able to obtain registration in Dubai, New Zealand and several other countries.
