Binance to Launch Blockchain Education Programs in Georgia

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Georgian Innovation and Technology Development Agency (GITA) to organize educational events on the topic of blockchain and crypto assets.

As part of the agreement, Binance and GITA will host blockchain and digital asset training workshops in Georgia to accelerate the development of the industry in the country. For this, the Binance Academy training program and the Binance Charity division, as well as BNB Chain specialists, will be involved. The initiative began to be implemented after the November meeting between Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, where they discussed cooperation in the field of blockchain, cryptocurrencies and investments.

Vladimir Smerkis, head of regional development at Binance, noted that there has been a huge interest in the cryptocurrency market in Georgia for a long time. Therefore, the goals of Binance coincide with the tasks of GITA to develop technological innovation in the country. GITA Chairman Avtandil Kasradze added that by collaborating with Binance to create educational and charitable programs, favorable conditions will be created in Georgia for the emergence of cryptocurrency startups with new ideas.

Georgia is one of the countries with a loyal attitude towards the crypto industry. In April last year, the Central Bank of Georgia announced that it was working on the creation of rules for regulating cryptocurrencies in accordance with the requirements of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF). In August, the Georgian authorities announced their intention to amend the legislation, taking into account European standards, in order to attract as many cryptocurrency companies as possible to the country.

Recall that at the end of last year, Binance signed a memorandum with the government of Kazakhstan to introduce basic blockchain courses in educational institutions.
