Binance trader arrested in Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, a resident of Tashkent was arrested for violating legislation in the field of circulation of crypto assets. This is reported by a local publication Repost with reference to the press service of the court.

According to the publication, 25-year-old Zh. A. made 23 transactions for the purchase and transfer of digital assets for 7768.66 USDT on the Binance cryptocurrency exchange.

By his actions, he violated the current legislation, since he did not have a license to operate as a service provider in the field of crypto-asset turnover.

The accused admitted guilt at the court hearing and asked for a reduced sentence. He was sentenced to administrative arrest for five days. The court also ordered the destruction of the seized Redmi Note 9 smartphone.

In June in Uzbekistan, a 24-year-old student was arrested for 10 days for selling the NOT token of the Web3 gaming project Notcoin. The court also ordered the destruction of the Galaxy A30 smartphone and bank plastic card used for transactions.

Earlier, the Uzbek authorities threatened local Hamster Combat users with arrests and fines. They risk incurring such penalties if they withdraw in-game currency to cryptocurrency exchanges and exchange it for fiat.

Illegal acquisition, sale or exchange of cryptocurrencies is prohibited in Uzbekistan. Such activity is punishable by administrative arrest for up to 15 days or a fine of 20 to 30 BRV.
