BitBoy Crypto Sues YouTube Channel Atozy for Defamation

Creator of crypto content BitBoy Crypto is suing another YouTuber for defamation and alleging that content published by BitBoy Crypto misleads viewers.

Ben Armstrong, owner of the Bitboy Crypto channel, intends to seek justice in court following an incident involving another YouTube user’s comments on a deleted BitBoy video from 2020.

Erling Mengshoel, better known as Atozy, found content on the Bitboy channel promoting the Pamp network token. Since the initiative of the creators of Pamp ended in complete failure and the loss of investors’ money, Atozy labeled Armstrong as an unprofessional, dishonest, self-proclaimed cryptocurrency expert who promoted an unpromising project for selfish purposes. In November 2021, Atozy posted a video on his channel titled “This youtuber is scamming his fans…Bitboy Crypto”.

On August 12, Armstrong filed a lawsuit against Mengshul in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, alleging defamation, mental harm, and improper interference with commercial contacts or future business relationships.

Armstrong, in a letter to the judiciary, indicated that while the video content featured on Bitboy Crypto conditionally purports to provide trading advice, the channel’s disclaimer states unequivocally that the author is not a professional advisor in areas of business related to finance, cryptocurrencies, taxation, trading in securities and commodities, or the practice of law. According to the channel’s announcement, all submitted videos and comments on them can be used for general informational purposes only.

Ben Armstrong’s Bitboy Crypto YouTube channel publishes content on crypto industry news, projects and tokens, and trading tips. The channel has more than 1.4 million subscribers and has been operating since February 2018.

In June, Charles Hoskinson’s blog subscribers complained to the creator that he shouldn’t have been interviewed on the BitBoy Crypto channel. According to these users, Armstrong is an accomplice of scammers, as he previously spoke positively about several cryptocurrency projects that subsequently crashed.
