Bitcoin lessons to be introduced in high schools in Argentina

The public organization Bitcoin Argentina has proposed introducing Bitcoin and crypto-currency lessons in Argentinean secondary schools to improve the financial literacy of students.

Bitcoin Argentina Organization Launches a project called “Schools and Bitcoin”, within the framework of which training seminars on Bitcoin will be held in educational institutions of the country. The project is being launched in partnership with the humanitarian initiative “Built with Bitcoin” to educate high school students about the possibilities of a new alternative financial system. They will be able to get acquainted with the basic principles of the Bitcoin network, as well as understand how Bitcoin differs from traditional finance.

The head of Bitcoin Argentina, Jimena Vallone, said that a similar pilot project had already been launched in the country earlier. Argentine schoolchildren showed great enthusiasm for learning about bitcoin and blockchain technology. According to her, this served as a “starting point” in order to expand the project to 40 schools, and over time, their number will increase. More than 4,000 high school students will be able to participate in training seminars, and classes and their content will be adapted for each school and region where these classes will be held.

Argentina is considered one of the countries with the highest cryptocurrency adoption rate in Latin America. This is due to the fact that many citizens start trading cryptocurrencies due to the high level of inflation reducing their purchasing power. More freelancers in Argentina are accepting bitcoin, according to data from Deel in February.

At the beginning of the month, the largest banks in Argentina, Banco Galicia and Brubank, provided their clients with the opportunity to trade cryptocurrencies. However, the Central Bank of Argentina later warned financial institutions against dealing with digital assets due to their high volatility.
