The “Bitcoin Office” will work with nonprofit Proof of Workforce to educate people about cryptocurrency, identify new economic opportunities, and promote bitcoin to workers, unions, and pension funds. The office will also aim to cement Santa Monica’s position as a “hub for bitcoin innovation.”
“In addition to educational efforts, the mission of the Bitcoin Office is to identify and partner with cryptocurrency industry participants to actively contribute to Santa Monica’s economic recovery and create new employment opportunities,” the city said in a statement.
Also on October 18, the city will host the Bitcoin Peer to Pier festival, which will bring together Bitcoin enthusiasts and industry participants.
Let’s remember that El Salvador also had a large-scale project called “Bitcoin City”. Unfortunately, after the announcement of plans to create “Bitcoin City” in 2021, the project has not yet been launched.
