The price of bitcoin began to decline after it failed to gain a foothold above $48,000 on March 28. Since then, the price of the cryptocurrency has fallen by 17%, and on April 12, for the first time since March 16, it fell below $40,000.
The capitalization of the asset decreased to $760 billion with trading volumes of $31 billion, according to CoinGecko. The share of bitcoin in the crypto market is currently 39%.
Over the past day, the largest altcoins in terms of capitalization have also fallen in price. The price of Ethereum fell by 5% to $3,000, while the value of Binance Coin dropped by 3% to $405. The overall market valuation fell 5% to $1.9 trillion.
