The websites of the Estonian and Colombian governments have joined a growing number of websites hosting the Bitcoin White Paper in response to Craig Wright’s intellectual property claim.
In response to Twitter posts of former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan, community members posted posts with links to the Bitcoin White Paper posted on government websites Estonia and Colombia… US Senate Rep. Patrick McHenry has also posted a copy of the White Paper on his official Congressional website.
The public offering of copies of the Bitcoin White Paper was a response to recent accusations by Australian entrepreneur Craig Wright. He accused the sites bitcoin.org and bitcoincore.org of copyright infringement in the publication of the White Paper and the use of domain names with the word bitcoin. Wright’s lawyers demanded that the owner of bitcoin.org remove the Bitcoin White Paper from his platform, but he refused to do so.
As a reminder, in May 2019, Wright attempted to copyright the Bitcoin White Paper with the US Copyright Office.
