Key indicators for forecasting the altcoin season in June continued to show negative trends. This makes altcoin rally less likely.
Against the backdrop of an exacerbation of the political tension between the USA and Iran, investors are reviewing their portfolios of altcoins to reduce risks.
Bitcoin’s domination has reached a maximum since 2021
At the time of writing, the dominance of Bitcoin (BTC.D), which measures the share of market capitalization of bitcoin from the total capitalization of crypto, has reached a new maximum in 2025. Now it exceeds 65% – this is the highest rate since February 2021.
TradingView data show that BTC.D has already grown seven quarters in a row without a single quarterly correction. This reflects a strong long -term confidence in Bitcoin both from both retail and institutional investors.
Rekt Capital cryptoanalyst predicts that the dominance of bitcoin can grow to 71% in the near future. If this happens, the altcoin market risks facing a sharp correction. A similar script turned around in February 2025, when the dominance of bitcoin reached a peak and led to a sharp drop in many large altcoins.
In February 2025, the capitalization of the altcoin market (Total2) decreased from $ 1.4 trillion to $ 1 trillion. If the Rekt Capital forecast is justified, the capitalization of altcoins can fall below $ 700 billion.
Nick, co -founder Coinbureau, also suggests that BTC.D can reach 70%. Raul fell, founder and general director of Realvision, agree with this. He believes that in case of correction, altcoins will suffer more than BTC.
Altcoin season index reached the bottom
On June 23, the altcoin season index fell up to 12 points – this is the lowest level in two years. This index shows how Altcoin surpassed bitcoin over the past 90 days. The value of 75 or higher usually indicates the altcoin season. The current value is far from this threshold.
However, the famous cryptoanalyst Michael Van de Poppe noted an interesting pattern: in recent years, the altcoin season index usually reaches the bottom in June or July. This indicates a seasonal trend: investors tend to transfer capital to Bitcoin in early summer, and then, possibly, return to altcoins in July or August.
