Cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex today announced the launch of its own payment service – Bitfinex Pay.
According to the press release, Bitfinex Pay comes as a widget and allows merchants to accept online payments in digital tokens. The system supports Bitcoin, including using the Lightning Network, ether and USDT stablecoin based on the Ethereum and Tron blockchains.
To make a payment via Bitfinex Pay, the user will need to click on the corresponding button on the merchant’s website. Payments made this way will go directly to merchants’ wallets on Bitfinex. To do this, they will have to register on the exchange, go through verification and get a separate subaccount.
“Bitfinex Pay allows merchants to easily add support for cryptocurrency payments, while the number of customers willing to pay for goods and services with digital tokens is growing,” said Paolo Ardoino, CTO of Bitfinex.
Bitfinex promises not to charge additional fees beyond those paid by users to process transactions. The maximum payment amount is limited to $ 1,000.
Earlier, the Binance exchange opened its own crypto payment service.
