Bitfinex predicts the number of crypto users will grow to 1 billion in 2024

Analysts at the Bitfinex crypto platform announced that against the backdrop of a bullish market trend, the number of cryptocurrency users could reach 950 million in the coming year.

As of December 1, 2023, the number of cryptoasset holders is about 575 million.

“And in 2024, we expect that the number of cryptocurrency owners worldwide could grow to 850 and even 950 million,” analysts write.

Bitfinex is very positive about the prospects for Bitcoin and crypto assets in general.

“If 2023 demonstrated anything, it was the amazing resilience of Bitcoin despite reputational and regulatory challenges,” the experts wrote.

Currently, the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies is approximately $1.6 trillion. But given the changing conditions right now, it has a chance to skyrocket to $3.2 trillion, say economists at Bitfinex.

In El Salvador, where BTC is considered legal tender, the adoption of the world's first cryptocurrency will continue to grow, experts write. There is also a positive shift towards cryptocurrencies in Argentina, where the authorities are going to allow financial contracts to be concluded in digital assets.

“Given the history of economic instability in such countries, it is reasonable to expect that citizens will continue to turn to cryptocurrencies as a means of protection against devaluation and inflation,” experts conclude.

The influx of users will also be affected by the most anticipated event of 2023-2024 – the approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which could occur as early as early January 2024.

The day before, the SEC asked companies to make final changes to applications to launch Bitcoin ETFs. The last date for making changes is December 29, 2023.
