Bitfinex announced the launch of its platform for trading tokenized shares in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Bitfinex Securities platform was registered back in September last year, and on March 1, the first day of trading took place.
The Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) acted as the platform regulator. According to Bitfinex CTO Paolo Ardoino, the company operates in the special economic zone of Kazakhstan, where there is an independent judiciary, so the platform is not available to residents of Canada and the United States.
Bitfinex Securities is starting by trading Blockstream Mining Note (BNM), a security token that offers those who wish to invest in bitcoin outside the US.
Bitfinex will continue to work with regulators and companies that want to list on their platform, Ardoino said.
Recall that in September last year, Bitfinex announced that it would launch STO (Security Token Offerings), a platform that allows small and medium-sized companies to expose their tokenized securities for an additional source of funding.
In January of this year, Bitfinex announced that it would stop serving customers from Ontario. This is due to the tightened policy of the Ontario Securities Commission in relation to the company.
