The Bitfury group, one of the oldest representatives of the mining industry, announced the launch of a data center for mining cryptocurrencies with a capacity of 28 MW.
The new data center in Sarnia, on the shores of Lake Huron, will join the list of Bitfury’s existing Canadian sites that operate in Alberta, Drumheller and Medicine Hat. By the end of May 2022, the fourth mining center should reach its design capacity. Potentially, its capacity is planned to be increased to 200 MW.
The company notes that the complex in Sarnia will be equipped with Bitfury’s own software and hardware solutions for high-performance mining.
“We are committed to providing customers with a turnkey digital asset infrastructure and mining solution by developing competitive products that take advantage of optimal power consumption, ultra-high hardware performance, and data center management experience,” says Oleg Blinkov, Head of Data Center Development and Operations at Bitfury.
Canada, as well as Russia, the USA and Kazakhstan, turned out to be among the main destinations for the migration of Chinese miners after the start of the persecution of the crypto industry in China.
“Demand for access to digital assets is exceptionally high, and the combination of best-in-class infrastructure and operational experience makes it possible to become the preferred partner for clients and investors around the world,” said Brian Brooks, CEO of Bitfury.
Unreliable power supply and political risks have forced one of the leading public bitcoin mining companies BIT Mining to stop building a data center in Kazakhstan.
