The world’s largest manufacturer of mining equipment Bitmain has introduced a new E9 ASIC miner that works with Ethash and allows you to mine ETH, ETC and other coins on this algorithm.
Sales of new items will start today, July 6th. E9 has a hashrate of 2400 MX/s, which is equivalent to about 25 Nvidia RXT 3080 graphics cards. The power consumption of the device is 1920 W, so the miner efficiency reaches 0.8 Joules per megahash.
The announcement of Bitmain E9 took place last spring. Then it was reported that the hashrate of the miner would exceed that of 32 RTX 3080 cards. However, as a result, the manufacturer made a less powerful device, and more than a year has passed since the announcement.
Note that if last spring the cryptocurrency industry was on the rise and the interest in ASIC miners was huge, now may not be the best time to launch a new product.
At the moment, the most popular ASIC miner for the Ethash algorithm remains the A10 Pro devices from InnoSilicon. They give out from 500 to 750 MX / s, depending on the version.
Earlier it was reported that Bitmain, together with the Poolin mining pool, is building a cryptocurrency mining center in the US state of Texas. The capacity of the data center will be 600 MW.
