The largest ASIC miner manufacturer Bitmain owns the largest mining pool Antpool. However, the pool will now become a separate company.
The plan to split the business was adopted back in January, when Bitmain founders Jihan Wu and Micree Zhan were still struggling for power. On July 26, an interim meeting of shareholders was held, during which the results of the spin-off of Antpool into a separate company were summed up.
“All legal issues have been settled by May 1. At the moment, some issues are being resolved and the process will be completed in the near future. Antpool will manage the pool from overseas as soon as the transfer is complete and new shareholder support is received, ”Bitmain said in a statement.
Earlier, Jihan Wu said that Mikri Zhang would be the head of the new company. In addition, the separation of the mining pool into a separate business will allow Bitmain’s management to focus on the main thing – the development and production of ASIC miners.
At the same time, Bitmain is not going to give up its mining business. Recently, the Chinese manufacturer entered into an agreement with the Kazakh hosting provider Enegix to host ASIC miners.
