Users of the Swedish site Bitrefill from the United States were allowed to pay medical bills, taxes and utilities using digital currencies.
Startup Bitrefill, which allows its customers to buy gift cards and recharge mobile phones using cryptocurrencies, announced, which launches its Pay Bill service in the US. The service allows you to pay bills and other payments using digital currencies such as Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, DASH and Tether. The service works with accounts of bank cards and utility operators, as well as with medical and mortgage payments.
The Swedish company itself assures that the service also allows users to pay taxes on property and funeral services. Bitrefill CEO Sergey Kotliar joked that there are two absolutely certain things that happen in life – death and taxes; and now Bitrefill users will be able to pay for both.
The service was first launched in El Salvador after the adoption of bitcoin as legal tender in the country last fall. Since then, the company says, the popularity of the service has been growing at a rate of 100-200% of users per month. To launch the service in the US, the company has partnered with regulated payment platform Arcus Financial, which offers cash withdrawal and deposit services for US billers and financial institutions.
“Thanks to our service, soon all US residents will be able to pay their daily and monthly expenses using cryptocurrencies. And refuse the services of their banks,” added the head of Bitrefill.
