Bits.Media source: Bitzlato co-founder remains at large

One of the two creators of the Bitzlato crypto exchange, Anton Shkurenko, in fact, contrary to media reports, was not detained, Bits.Media’s own sources assure.

“Anton remains at large, this is the only thing that can be said right now,” insists the source of Bits.Media, who is well acquainted with the situation.

Sources do not refute the French law enforcement agencies’ interest in the figure of the co-founder of Bitzlato, but they are sure that the Code of Criminal Procedure allows the detention of a Russian citizen only if a criminal case is initiated against him in Russia itself, and nothing is known about such a case yet.

Representatives of the exchanger itself insist, referring to approximately the same norms of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which, literally:

“The arrest and extradition from Russia to France of Anton Shkurenko, who “committed a crime” in France, is contrary to the rule of law.”

The arrest of one of the two creators of Bitzlato became known on Tuesday, February 7, in the afternoon from the telegram channel Baza, close to Russian law enforcement agencies.

The second co-founder, Anatoly Legkodymov, was detained in the United States in mid-January at the request of the FBI. The American investigation insists that Bitzlato is associated with large-scale money laundering for hundreds of millions of dollars.
