Black box of aircraft that crashed in Vinhedo is found among the wreckage

Teams working in the aftermath of the accident involving a Voepass aircraft on Friday afternoon (9), in Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo, located the equipment, popularly known as a black box, which records the conversations of the crew with the control tower.

The information was confirmed by the Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo (SSP-SP), Guilherme Derrite, during a press conference held this afternoon. The secretary indicated that the equipment is “apparently preserved”.

Derrite reported that experts specializing in identifying the bodies have been called to work on the case. He said that the removal will be done to the city of São Paulo, due to better working conditions.

“There are sectors that will provide better service than the Campinas region with legal anthropology and legal dentistry, since in an initial analysis, we will have difficulties in identifying the bodies, meaning we will have to do this in another way,” he explained.

The list of victims should be sent by the flight operator within the next hour, according to the secretary. “There is a company protocol that notifies family members before releasing any list to avoid trauma,” he said.

“The scenario is very sad. It has been a long time since we had a plane crash.”

Guilherme Derrite commented on the scene and said that there had not been a plane crash of this magnitude for many years. He stressed that he would request an air ban when the bodies began to be removed.

The investigation will be conducted by the Vinhedo civil police, which already has a task force of more than ten clerks to work on the inquiry.
