Black Friday 2021: average discounts on e-commerce is 57.38%, says survey

A Black Friday of 2021 has an average of discounts on e-commerce 57.38% so far. The data is from a survey by the company BigDataCorp, commissioned by PayPal.

The value exceeds the 2020 average (51.36%), which according to the company may indicate a reaction from the business against a challenging economic scenario. The average discount of large e-commerce companies, which have more than 500 thousand monthly accesses, is higher, at 64.71%.

The category of books, music and movies is the one with the biggest discounts, on average of 70.26%. It is followed by electronics (62.93%), toys (51.83%), cosmetics and beauty products (50.02%) and clothing, shoes and accessories (48.22%).

The survey collected information from a database that has been in operation for eight months, visiting more than 1.5 billion websites worldwide. In Brazil, 17 million sites were analyzed.

Another note of the research is that the retail Online do Brasil opted to anticipate Black Friday discounts. For the company, this was due to “the growth of online commerce over the last 19 months”.

Data show that adherence to promotions was more intense already 2.5 months before Black Friday. Of the total analyzed, 60.49% had already offered promotions for eight weeks, but the average of discounted values ​​was 10.56%. Two weeks before Black Friday, the average reached 49.11%, compared to 45.35% in 2020 and 10.58% in 2019.

In addition, the adhesion of e-commerces to the date reached 97.72% of the total at midnight between Thursday (25) and Friday (26), the date of Black Friday.
