Black Friday: 44% of entrepreneurs expect higher revenue this year, says survey

A survey carried out by the analytical intelligence company Boa Vista, obtained exclusively by CNN shows that 44% of entrepreneurs expect to register a higher turnover than in 2021 on this year’s Black Friday.

The survey, which had the participation of approximately 500 companies in the commerce, industry and services sector from all regions of the country, also shows that 50% of the interviewees believe that the amount of sales will be higher compared to the one obtained on the same date of the last year.

The survey also reveals an increase in the intention to grant discounts. In 2021, the rate was 22%. This year, the indicator rose to 33%.

sales strategies

According to Flávio Calife, economist responsible for the area of indicators and economic studies at Boa Vista, the sectors need to be creative to try to leverage sales.

Of those interviewed, 54% say they will bet on promotions and sales methods on social networks to try to leverage results.

Looking specifically at retail, entrepreneurs will bet on discounts (64%), on social networks (47%), in addition to creating promotions for the date (43%). The industry and services sectors, in addition to these strategies, will invest in new ways and increase the payment term.

Hiring

As for the workforce, the survey showed that 77% of entrepreneurs – including retail – do not intend to make new hires on the date. For 76% of those who will not hire, the reason is that the current workforce is enough.

71% of respondents also stated that they do not intend to stock extra for Black Friday. When looking at retail alone, that number drops to 58%.

The reasons for not reinforcing the stock, in general, are a lack of working capital (53%), sufficient stock (20%) and a drop in post-pandemic sales (27%).
