Black Friday should have the biggest financial movement in history, designs CNC

Black Friday in Brazil should move approximately BRL 4.2 billion in 2022, according to a survey by the National Confederation of Commerce in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC).

The value is 1.1% higher compared to the same date last year, discounting inflation.

If CNC’s projection comes true, Black Friday will record the biggest financial movement since the date was incorporated into the national retail calendar, in 2010. This year, the date on which shopkeepers promote a series of discounts on various products takes place on November 25th.

To deal with this financial movement, Cielo, the leading card acquirer in Brazil and Latin America, invested in technology and security to ensure that online transactions take place in the best possible way during the period.

The investment started 5 months before Black Friday. With this, the company was able to monitor purchases made across the country in real time, and also multiplied its ability to authorize transactions per second.

Before, the peak that had been observed by the company was 1,300 authorized transactions per second. With the investment in technology, the number increased to 13 thousand per second. It is also possible to track where in the world purchases are made and follow the financial evolution of the sectors.

Until this Thursday (24), the sector of cosmetics and personal hygiene had been the one that had the most growth in revenue. The growth was 37.5 compared to the same period last year.

In second place comes the furniture, electronics and department sector, with an increase of 28.9% in revenue. Leaning against the second place in the ranking, comes the branch of drugstores and pharmacies, which grew 28.8%, also in comparison with 2021.
