Darker than black, no one ever, it’s true. And so if we think of summer, sunny, pop, bright and absolutely vibrant in its thousand shades, we do not associate it with the darker and heavier color / non-color of the chromatic scale. But it is also true that the black, classy and superfine, knows how to give himself new light and adapt with style even to the wardrobe of the hottest season.

There is a myth, then, that we shouldn’t wear dark clothes in the summer as they would attract heat, while the white ones would reflect it. But scientific research dates back to 1980 which shows that the amount of heat to which the skin is exposed (through clothing) is the same regardless of color. And Mademoiselle Chanel also teaches: “When I find a darker color than black, I will wear it. But until then, I’ll wear black“. And we, of course, are with her.
Loved by the fashion system, loved by women of any decade, we certainly cannot turn our backs on him, the healthy bearer of charm and elegance, power and mystery. Much more than a color: black is a lifestyle and is part of the DNA of many of us as much as platinum hair for Marilyn Monroe or pearls for Coco herself. Many famous women have been and are loyal to him, and it is no coincidence that they are all strong personalities. So we studied who among the divas has worn total black in the last period to get it five fashion lessons about how a noir outfit can be best declined even in the hot season. Take notes.
1. Alternate fabrics like Victoria Beckham

Dominique CharriauThe former Posh Spice has always been addicted to the essentiality of black. We recently saw her stand out in a dark outfit (designed by her label of the same name), guest of the Jacquemus Spring / Summer 2023 fashion show. Shining on the whiteness of the Salin-de-Giraud, near Arles, where the show was held, was she in a total black look consisting of a black blazer and a transparent lace and silk minidress, complemented by black tights and a pair of coordinated heels. The first lesson is, therefore, revive the dark block by playing with transparencies to avoid the shadow effect.
2. Discover centimeters of skin like Alessandra Mastronardi

Vittorio Zunino Celotto / Getty ImagesCrop tops and bras on display are on the crest of the wave, and, as the Italian actress who hosted the Valentino Haute Couture Fall / Winter 2022-23 fashion show in Rome teaches, they can also be a chic option if paired with dark pants with soft lines. After all, an infallible trick to combine black in summer so that it is trendy, but also suitable for the season and not too dark, consists in show some skin. Choose your strengths and then… discover them. Even if not the abdomen, perhaps the décolleté through slightly more generous necklines, or the legs with minidresses or shorts, or cut-out dresses, everything is fine! Your total black look will immediately have a fresher and more summery air, even if you are not tanned.
3. Focus on dazzling details like Chiara Ferragni

To shine like a shooting star on a summer night, there is only one way to go, that of the sparkling: any black dress if decorated with sequins and sequins, or perhaps with the addition of necklaces or jewel applications such as the little black dress with rhinestone profile by Miu Miu worn by Chiara for an event of the Prada brand, will naturally soften the tones, making the most glamorous ensemble. Indeed, glamor to the nth.
4. Complete the look with full color accessories like Pixie Lott

Edward Berthelot / Getty ImagesA trend that is all the rage, especially among influencers and pop stars like Pixie Lott (who wore a short dress with rouches and a shocking pink bag at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture show in Paris) is that of match the little black dress with brightly colored shoes and bags and vibrant. The accessories, in fact, capture the attention and give a whole new appeal to the dress too. Whether they are coordinated with each other or, for an even more eye-catching effect, in contrasting nuances. Perfect colors inspired by precious stones as well as fluorescent ones, to be declined according to the occasion. A simple strategy but which turns out to be absolutely winning.
5. Choose loose and comfortable clothes like Reese Whiterspoon

Robert KamauSummer rhymes with comfort, without a doubt. If, therefore, total black must be, especially for the day, let them be loose, generous clothes in which to move without constraints and impediments, in total freedom as shown by the American actress surprised in Manhattan. And then oversize is always in fashion. If you then choose the outfit in natural and light fabric, you have made a tombola. Being cool without effort is the best fashion thing that can happen.
