The anthological series “Black Mirror” He debuted his seventh season at the Netflix streaming service on Thursday (10). The third of six new episodes, “Hotel Reverie”, is starring Issa Rae (“Barbie”) and Emma Corin (“The Crown”).
In “Hotel Reverie”, actress Brandy Friday (Issa Rae) frustrates with industry stereotypes and yearns for something timeless and romantic. Luckily for you, Harriet Walter’s Judith Keyworth, with financial difficulties, agreed to use Redream software, which inserts modern stars in classic movies for interactive remakes.
Friday is literally inserted in the movie “Hotel Reverie” starring Clara (Emma Corin), where she can interact with her and the other characters while the movie is recorded with her “inside” the work in real time.
Spoiler Alert: The following text contains spoilers of the third episode of the seventh season of “Black Mirror”.
Throughout the episode, the project gets out of rails when Brandy makes a script mistake. This creates a big hole in the plot that she needs to correct to work out without risking getting stuck in that alternative reality forever.
When things start back to track, an engineer sheds coffee on a computer server, taking the Redream from the air with Brandy still inside. Although the program will air in minutes, months went to Brandy and Dorothy at a Reverie hotel, and they fell in love.
Understand the end of “Hotel Reverie”
In a scene from the movie Remake of “Hotel Reverie” Clara shoots and kills her husband – a serious deviation from the original story – and is mortally injured in a confrontation against a detective. While Clara dies in Brandy’s arms, she is reluctant to leave the character behind after the end of the movie, struggles to say her last speech and get out of that reality. But she finally pronounces the words that free her from simulation and wakes up in the real world.
Redream’s representative who was guiding Brandy during the remake filming, pitying with the love created between the two, and sends her a packet containing a device that allows her to talk to Dorothy, the actress who played Clara whenever she wants.
“I knew exactly what the end should be,” said Charlie Brooker creator on Netflix’s official website. “The fact of [Dorothy e Brandy] Having this kind of romance at a distance was bittersweet. ”
Emma Corin, in turn, stressed “the beauty of these two people who met in this extraordinary circumstance,” but opined on how sad it is because “the version of Dorothy with whom Brandy is talking about still in a bubble.”
“Brandy almost wanted to stay in that world,” Brooker added. “It’s an open question what will happen next, because we show that there is a possibility to get in there, and who can say they were limited to that?” He concluded.
