Black Sea: Britain denies incident with Russian warship

The London government denies that Russian warship fires warning shots at British HMS Defender as it entered Russian territorial waters in the Black Sea.

According to Interfax, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that a Russian warship fired warning shots at a British Navy destroyer after it entered Russian territorial waters in the Black Sea, and a Russian aircraft was in the process of landing. .

“We believe that the Russians conducted artillery exercises in the Black Sea, and provided the maritime community with a warning about their activities,” the British Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Twitter.

“No fire was fired at the HMS Defender and we do not accept the allegation that bombs fell on its course.”

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said the HMS Defender was sailing on an internationally recognized route from Odessa, Ukraine, to Georgia.

“This morning, HMS Defender was routinely crossing from Odessa to Georgia via the Black Sea,” Wallace said in a statement.

“As is normal for this route, HMS Defender has entered an internationally recognized traffic separation corridor. Exit this runway safely at 09:45 BST (UK Summer Time). “As usual, Russian boats monitored its passage and noticed high schools in the area.”
