Bare, again, but in a new form: Blanco talks about himself in the new single The Island of Rosesavailable from today January 27, mixing fragility and strength.
The 19-year-old from Brescia opens a new chapter in his career with the first track of the highly anticipated album on which he is working. The tone can be clearly understood from the video clip, which in the first few hours has totaled almost 150,000 views on YouTube.
The director Simone Peluso and the set designer Michela Croci wanted to set it in a suburban Milanese campsite, precisely at the Camping Village Città di Milano. That’s where the singer-songwriter stands on a hill of roses and then lets himself be cradled by the thorns of the flowers.
Produced by Michelangelo, it arrives after the summer Nostalgia and two years from Heavenly Blueand takes the singer back to last year and the success of Chills with Mahmood al San Remo Festival. This year the duo returns to the Ariston for the 2023 edition on the opening night of February 7 and performs the song that led them to victory and it turned the careers of both. The song dominated the charts, first earning six platinum records and then participation in theEurovision Song Contest (where they finished in sixth position).
Simultaneously with the sudden and rampant fame, Blanco he tried to maintain a long-distance relationship but failed. That’s why the song begins with a request for forgiveness with the words: “Sorry if I have a billion apologies in my pocket.”
The reference of the title is to a fact that really happened and which also inspired the film of the same name with Elio Germano on Netflix: The Island of Roses it is a nation that proclaimed itself an independent republic in 1968 off the Adriatic coast, outside Italian waters, a sort of happy and free oasis that reminds Blanco of the relationship he had with his ex-girlfriend.
In his vision and after that experience, the artist sets to music a very strong but contrasted relationship, which made him feel invincible but also helpless.
The audience can listen to the song during Blanco’s live dateson 4 July at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome and on 20 at the San Siro in Milan, after participating in the One More Festwhich will be held on June 23 at the RCF Arena in Reggio Emilia (Campovolo).
After the 35 sold out dates of the previous tour, the very young artist continues to gain acclaim which adds to the 52 platinum and 4 gold records he has already won. Not to mention the illustrious collaborations, such as the one with Roberto Bolle in Dance with methe Rai Uno show last New Year’s Eve.
