Blinken announces sanctions on 22 Russian entities and threatens Lukashenko with tougher

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has announced a new round of sanctions against Russia targeting 22 Russian “defense-related entities” as Russia promotes its invasion of Ukraine.

“The entities that will be sanctioned include” companies that build warplanes, infantry fighting vehicles, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare systems, “Blinken told a State Department news conference. “Attacking the Ukrainian people, abusing human rights, violating international humanitarian law.”

Blinken also announced export controls on Belarus “to hold the Lukashenko regime accountable for its role in the war against President Putin.”

“We will stifle Belarus’ ability to import basic technologies,” Blinken said. “And if Lukashenko’s support for the war continues, the consequences for his regime will escalate.”
