US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed today that he would meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on February 24 in an interview with Dozhd TV, which is listed as a “foreign agent” in Russia.
The US Secretary of State reiterated that Washington was ready to “respond” to Russian aggression if necessary, but assured that its goal was to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
Blinken also said it would be a disaster if he attacked Kiev, a city of three million people. However, he added, there would be casualties among Russian troops as well, as Ukrainians are reluctant to welcome Russian forces.
