US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will travel to Germany on Saturday to attend a meeting of NATO foreign ministers to discuss the North Atlantic Alliance’s response to the war in Ukraine, the State Department announced today.
German Foreign Minister Analena Berbock called on ministers last month for an informal meeting in Berlin. The meeting takes place as Finland, worried about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, is moving towards NATO membership.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said any accession process would be “smooth and fast” and that Finland would be warmly welcomed.
On Sunday, May 15, Blinken will travel to Paris with US Trade Representative Kathryn Thai and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo for the second ministerial meeting of the US-EU Trade and Technology Council.
