The United States has no strategy for regime change in Russia, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told reporters today after President Joe Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin “can not stay in power.”
“I think the president, the White House, explained very simply last night that President Putin could not be allowed to go to war or attack Ukraine or anyone else,” Blinken said during a visit to Jerusalem. .
“As you know, and as you have repeatedly said, we do not have a regime change strategy in Russia – or anywhere else.”
Later, during a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett described Israel’s efforts to mediate in ending the Ukraine-Russia conflict as significant and “closely coordinated” with Washington.
