Blinken: The war in Ukraine may last until the end of 2022

The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinkentold the Europeans that the war in Ukraine may last until the end of 2022.

This statement was made by two European officials on CNN, at a time when the US and Europe believe that there is no short-term end to the war.

Many of the officials who spoke to the American network stressed that it is difficult to predict exactly how long the war will continue, but several officials said that there is no indication that the final goals of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, have changed and are unlikely to pursue diplomatic negotiations unless faced with a military defeat.

Russia warns US of “unforeseen consequences” if it continues to equip Ukraine

Russia has warned the United States that there will be “unforeseen consequences” if Washington continues to supply arms to Ukraine, according to a Washington Post report today.

“We call on the United States and its allies to stop the irresponsible militarization of Ukraine, which has unintended consequences for regional and global security,” the paper quoted Russia as saying in a statement sent by Russia to the United States.

Earlier, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced today that it had hit a military target on the outskirts of Kiev overnight with cruise missiles and threatened more attacks against the Ukrainian capital.

The ministry said its forces now have full control of the Ilic Steelworks in besieged Mariupol.
