Gamers have long been accustomed to the fact that in the spring major developers release their iconic releases – AAA projects for every taste and color. This year, however, the tradition has been partially broken, so that video game fans do not have to spend impressive money on well-known titles – instead, smaller studios provide an opportunity to taste unusual releases with unique plots, gameplay mechanics, and even stylish graphics. And, importantly, some of them have been gathering dust in early access for so long that many no longer believed in a full-fledged launch.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
April 5 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch

Developer Traveller’s Tales (a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment) has decided to up the ante by bringing fans of Lego and the Star Wars franchise a massive open-world adventure game with a storyline that spans all nine episodes of The Skywalker Saga. Gamers will be able to independently participate in the most important events of the cult trilogies, passing 45 separate levels – 5 for each film. At the same time, the developers focus not only on lightsaber battles, but also on a detailed study of the virtual world, side quests and activities.
For example, the player will be rewarded for the desire to look into every corner of the virtual galaxy, while traveling on a ship in outer space, you will accidentally encounter smugglers and pirates, and in total, 300 different characters, more than a hundred vehicles are promised in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga , 23 planets available for exploration, the ability to improve the character and enter secret codes that directly affect the gameplay. There will even be an opportunity to shoot practically from the first person, use the Force on enemies, or simply chop everyone with the adored lightsaber.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition
April 7 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

Once upon a time, in November 1999, a JRPG called Chrono Cross was released on the PlayStation console, which instantly captivated the audience of gamers around the world. Then profile journalists put the game on Metacritic 94 points (8.8 – from users), calling the novelty one of the best in history. And now they decided to re-release the legendary role-playing game in a remaster format with improved graphics, improved gameplay and many small but nice improvements. And best of all, gamers don’t need to buy a 20-year-old console to experience such a great release.
The remaster, which received the sonorous name of Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, will provide gamers with exactly the same benefits as the original game. The developers promised not to touch the storyline, which tells about two parallel worlds, in one of which the main character died a long time ago, and it was for the plot that the project was once praised. Moreover, the game still has 45 playable characters with a unique character and features – each gamer can take on his team to fight enemies. And thanks to the improvement of the combat system (we are talking exclusively about control), it will also be pleasant to fight.
Postal 4: No Regerts
April 20 on PC

The fourth numbered part of the cult shooter Postal was hastily presented in alpha version back in 2019 – then gamers quickly realized that the project was not even suitable for early access. But now the developers have prepared a complete video game that should appeal to both loyal fans of the previous three parts, and just fans of unusual “shooters” with an emphasis on humor, cruelty and obscenity. This time, even the plot promises to please – the main character named Dude is stuck in a small town because his car was stolen – now he needs to work to return the vehicle.
In terms of gameplay, the fourth part is very similar to the second – the entire gameplay is built around various tasks that the main character must complete every day. For example, he will need to perform the tasks of a prison guard, clean the sewers, catch animals, run errands from the local gang, help the mayor of the city and stuff like that. Naturally, in the course of all these tasks, gamers are promised a lot of exciting mechanics, side quests, a variety of weapons and memorable locations. And now the game has a full-fledged cooperative multiplayer.
MotoGP 22
April 21 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S

Usually, sports simulations, especially those aimed at a specific audience of fans of a particular sports event, rarely make noticeable steps in order to expand the army of fans. But the creators of MotoGP 22 still decided to use a trick to stop being a niche product. In the new part of the series, for example, a rather interesting MotoGP ACADEMY mode has appeared, which was developed specifically for training beginners. The mode in the format of short gaming sessions will allow you to learn a lot of tricks and get used to the controls, so that later you can set records and win more often than the gamer is used to.
Also, the new part of the series promises to please fans of a beautiful picture with a more advanced graphic component, higher realism, pleasant visual effects and, of course, a huge base of racing motorcycles, tracks and athletes. It will be possible to take part in the virtual official championship, race for your favorite racers or lead the team to victory, go through the whole season and more. Of course, there are doubts about whether the project will become incredibly popular around the world, but at least it has everything necessary for this.
King Arthur: Knight’s Tale
April 26 on PC

Periodically, independent video game developers experiment by mixing the characteristics of different genres in a single project. A striking example of the fact that such experiments can lead to amazing results is King Arthur: Knight’s Tale – this is an unusual mixture of a decent role-playing project with a turn-based tactical strategy. Gamers are offered to go through the rethought format of the legend of King Arthur with their own hands, gathering around them unique warriors with specific features and skills. After all, the stronger the squad, the easier it is to defeat opponents – and there are plenty of them here.
In addition to an interesting and, most importantly, a full-fledged storyline, the developers promised the audience more than three dozen different game characters and six unique classes of heroes. This will allow you to create your own dream squad, and then go through fifty missions with it, increasing the level and getting new equipment. Moreover, there is a separate mode for those who have already completed the single-player campaign, but want to play more, plus the developers have implemented a PvP mode for very hardcore fans who want to compete in multiplayer. And given that the game received excellent ratings in early access, there should be plenty of them.
