Blockchain.com crypto wallet service crashed

Users of the oldest cryptocurrency wallet service on the Blockchain.com market cannot log into their accounts this Tuesday. In fact, when you click on the “Login” button, nothing happens. The problem manifests itself both in the web version and in the mobile application.

The company has confirmed the problem and is currently investigating. According to the publication, the malfunction affects “a large number of clients.” The failure became known at about 15:00 Moscow time.

“Please don’t doubt the safety of your funds, but at this time clients will not be able to access their wallets,” reads the page with information about the status of the service. “If you contact us about this issue, please note that our support team will not be able to provide you with additional information.”

At the same time, the company does not specify whether it has already succeeded in identifying the cause of the malfunction and proceeding with its elimination.

As Casa CTO Jameson Lopp notes, after the blockchain.com shutdown, the number of new transactions on the bitcoin network has dropped dramatically.

“Judging by the decrease in the number of new transactions, it really looks like they are responsible for 30-40% of transactions,” he writes.

The info page also indicates that the blockchain explorer and exchange Blockchain.com remain fully functional, while the status of the wallet has been changed to Major Failure.
