Digital influencer Isabela Gomes Pereira, known as Isa Gomes, was sentenced to 30 years in prison by the courts, after planning “a scare” that resulted in the death of her ex-boyfriend, Leandro Rezende Morais. Investigations showed that the crime was motivated by Isa's non-compliance with the end of the relationship.
The crime, which took place on June 28, 2022, in Contagem, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, also involved three other suspects, all indicted for robbery.
According to police information, Isa Gomes planned the crime by convincing the other suspects to invade Leandro's residence during the early hours of the morning, with the aim of giving him “a scare, to the point of leaving him in a coma in the hospital”.
During the trial, she denied committing the crime, but admitted having promised R$5,000 to the suspects to scare him. She alleged that her ex-partner assaulted and extorted her during their relationship.
The blogger, accompanied by the suspects, went to the victim's residence, where one of the people involved invaded the property, allowing the others to enter. Leandro was attacked while he slept, and was later asphyxiated and tied up. The suspects took several valuable items from the scene, including a vehicle.
In total, a cell phone, television, perfumes, sneakers, clothes, portable speakers and a car valued at R$97,000 were stolen.
A CNN Isabela Gomes' defense stated that she appealed the decision, claiming that the sentence was disproportionate to the accused's conduct and contrary to the evidence presented in the case file.
