Bloomberg: The EU launches the new border control system in October

A new border control system that will monitor hundreds of millions of people entering the European Union every year will come into force in October, after repeated delays, as Bloomberg reports. The implementation of the entry/exit system (EXIT SYSTEM – EES) will begin on October 12 gradually, with EU countries expected to fully implement it within six months, according to a European Commission announcement on Wednesday. The new system will record the data of third -country nationals entering 29 European countries, including biometric data such as fingerprints and facial imaging. Its aim is to facilitate the process of entry for citizens outside the EU who are legally entering, while at the same time contributing to the fight against illegal entry and forgery.
