Blue lobster is found by fisherman in Portland, USA

One in two million lobsters are born blue, according to the Lobster Institute at the University of Maine in the United States.

A fisherman caught a species of blue lobster in the waters off Portland, off the US coast earlier this month.

Medical technology and biotechnology entrepreneur Lars-Johan Larsson said in a Twitter post that the crustacean was returned to the sea to continue to grow.

Lobsters are classified in the phylum Arthropoda, which also includes Cameroon, crabs and insects. The word Arthropoda comes from the Latin word “arthro”, which means articulated, and from the Greek word “poda”, foot. Like invertebrate crustaceans, lobsters also have a hard outer shell or exoskeleton, and no skeleton or internal bones.

Lobsters live on the ocean floor, preferring temperatures of 15 and 18°C. Adult lobsters are larger and move around more. They inhabit deeper waters, but seasonally return to shallower, warmer waters.

According to the Lobster Institute, most lobsters are greenish brown in color. In addition to the rare blue specimens, there are also yellow or white ones, or even with more than one color. A lobster of any color will turn red when you cook it, except white ones.
