Bluesky: “We intend to be in full legal compliance to operate in Brazil”

After the suspension of X, formerly Twitter, in Brazil, the social network Bluesky — which has grown with the arrival of Brazilian users — said it intends to be “in full legal compliance to operate in Brazil” .

In an interview with CNN, the Bluesky COO Rose Wang reinforced that the company is already working with local entities to appoint a legal representative in Brazil, as required by local legislation.

OX was blocked in the country by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), after billionaire Elon Musk’s platform failed to comply with a subpoena to appoint a new legal representative in Brazil.

Although it does not yet have a defined name to represent the platform here, Wang stated that Bluesky will follow the obligation set out in the Internet Civil Framework and the Brazilian Civil Code.

Bluesky does not have an office in Brazil, as the company does not have headquarters anywhere in the world. According to Wang, the platform can hire Braziliansbut it is unlikely to have a physical space in the country.

“We are a remote team with members all over the world. We are looking to hire more engineers at the moment and we know that there are really talented developers in Brazil. So we hope to bring more people to the team,” he said.
