BlueStacks X released – a free browser-based game emulator for Android. Integration with Discord

Users from all over the world know BlueStacks as an emulator of Android applications on the Windows operating system, but now the software developers have decided to move to the cloud. From today, everyone can try the beta version of the BlueStacks X service, which runs in a browser and is supported by applications on Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems. The new product provides the user with the ability to run games and applications for the Android operating system from the cloud, using streaming data – all this, at least for now, is given to use for free.

In order to implement this idea, the developers of BlueStacks have created a new hybrid cloud technology under the brand name now.gg, which runs on Amazon AWS Graviton servers. Moreover, some of the computation and graphics rendering takes place on the devices themselves – this is possible thanks to modern browsers. Accordingly, gamers can play various mobile games without having to download them or worry that the power of the smartphone will not be enough. True, at the moment BlueStacks X is presented only in beta format with 14 games on board (they are available in the cloud). At the same time, the user can still use the classic application to play hundreds of games that have not yet been launched in the cloud.

What’s more, the BlueStacks developers have created their own bot called Discord Cloudy, which can be integrated into Discord servers to launch cloud games and co-op sessions. The developers said that they will allow you to customize games that can be run on the server, enable automatic connection to voice channels and a system of invitations to the session. A social feed will also be implemented there – if a player bought a weapon or killed a boss, this will be displayed in a separate feed, like achievements on modern consoles.

It is important to clarify that although BlueStacks are provided as a free service, developers will earn money from ads – they will be shown before the start of the game session. At the same time, the authors of the project promise that there will be no advertising that will interrupt the gameplay. And in the future, there may be applications that will be available only with a paid subscription, but there is no exact information about this yet.
