Blumarine, the new creative director is Walter Chiapponi

There is no sign of an end to the changes to the artistic direction of the brands. After Alexander McQueen, Chloé, Moschino – just to name a few – it’s the turn of Blumarine which, following the farewell of Nicola Brognanoannounces the arrival of Walter Chiapponi to fill the role of creative director.

«I am sure that Walter Chiapponi, with his internationally recognized talent and the profound stylistic sensitivity that distinguishes him, will be able to give new energy to Blumarine while at the same time showing respect for the extraordinary heritage of the brand- he comments Marco Marchi, CEO of Italian excellencesthe holding company that owns the Italian brand – I am proud to be able to write a new and significant chapter together with Walter.”

The Milanese designer, after studying at the European Institute of Design, made his debut in the world of fashion towards the end of the 90s with Alessandro Dell’Acqua and subsequently collaborated with some of the most important brands in the fashion panorama such as Blumarine itself, Givenchy, Valentino, Gucci, Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta and, lastly, Tod’s.

In his works, Chiapponi has managed to develop understated, casual yet sophisticated luxury collections that reflect the exclusive lifestyle and Italian craftsmanship, especially in his four years in Tod’s in which he revisited the brand’s classic rubber detail, supersizing it on moccasins, ballet flats and boots, as well as expanding the selection of bags.

«I am pleased to have been appointed Creative Director of an iconic Italian brand that has outlined over time a concept of femininity characterized by lightness and creativity – these are the words of the new creative director of Blumarine – Being able to contribute to the construction of a new phase is for me the opportunity to embrace new, exciting and significant horizons, expand my vision and restore meaning to artistic expressiveness.”

The idea behind this choice is to renew the Italian fashion house bringing it back into the spotlight and to the attention of everyone, especially the younger generations. We have to wait a little longer for the debut, precisely February 2024 when the designer will present his first collection Blemarine during Milan Fashion Week. We can’t wait to see what this new and promising synergy can give us.
