BMW announces Alpina B8 Gran Coupe with sleek new design and old nameplate

On March 24, 2021, BMW unveiled the 2022 Alpina B8 Gran Coupe based on the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe. Like the M8, the B8 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8, but the new model delivers 612 horsepower, 12 more horsepower than its predecessor, with torque bumped up to 800 Nm. Remarkably, this is not the first time Alpina has used the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe nameplate. The last time it was in the 1990s, it was about a number of models based on the 3 series.

It’s worth noting that the Alpina B8 Gran Coupe is a more elegant version of the high-performance M850i Gran Coupe. The first thing that catches your eye is the deep dark color of the new Alpina Green Metallic, which, like metallic blue, is exclusive to this model. The interior of the car features special leather trim and many Alpina logos.

In addition, they changed the proprietary gearshift buttons on the back of the steering wheel and modified the design of the drawn instruments in a blue color scheme. There is also a customizable digital instrument cluster with various instruments for Comfort and Sport modes. A pleasant bonus is that the most demanding customers will be able to order a complete reflashing of the interior with the delicate Lavalina leather.

It became known that the Alpina B8 Gran Coupe made dramatic changes to the eight-speed automatic, which, in turn, improved the dynamics of gear changes. In addition, the car received new bumpers, a rear spoiler and a diffuser. The equipment also includes 21-inch forged wheels with the characteristic Alpina Classic design and specially developed Pirelli tires.

For comparison, in Russia the most affordable BMW M8 Gran Coupe is estimated at 11,210,000 rubles, and for 9,770,000 rubles you can purchase a modification of the M850i xDrive in a fancy M Sport by Individua design. At the moment, Alpina is not represented in Russia.
