BMW unveils updated 1-Series: new suspension, improved handling and more

Today, October 20, BMW officially refreshed its smallest sports car, the 1-Series, dubbed the M135i xDrive, the first major vehicle upgrade in three years since its official release. The main innovation of the sports hatchback is the improved suspension, which improves the car’s handling and makes it much easier to enter corners, even at high speeds. BMW said that the company’s engineers have developed the latest spring mechanisms and shock absorbers, which significantly reduced the car’s roll in especially sharp turns.

Also on the front axle, a completely new hydraulic support is used, which should also have a positive effect on the stability of the vehicle on the road. But there are no changes in the engine compartment – the M135i xDrive is sold on the same uncontested 2-liter gasoline engine with 306 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque paired with an automatic transmission with 8 steps. All-wheel drive, of course, has not gone anywhere either – it is thanks to it that the updated car can accelerate from zero to hundred in 4.8 seconds at a maximum speed of 250 km / h.

A few more minor changes appeared on the body and inside the cabin. For example, engineers redesigned the exhaust system to change the sound of the car to a more pleasant one, and also the same sound was redirected into the cabin through the speakers of the audio system. Also, potential buyers of the sports car have three additional body colors to choose from – Sao Paulo Yellow, Frozen Orange and Frozen Pure Gray.

Unfortunately, so far the manufacturer does not even name the approximate delivery dates for the new BMW M135i xDrive, as well as the cost of the updated car. But, most likely, the price increase will be minimal, since the brand has not made any fundamental changes.
