BNDES charged Americanas loan guarantees totaling R$ 2.4 billion

The BNDES, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development, announced this Monday (23) that it had collected the bank guarantees offered in two loans granted to Americanas. Together, the two loans add up to R$ 2.4 billion.

According to the bank, the guarantees “guarantee the entire debt that Americanas SA is liable for”. The collection of these guarantees, according to the BNDES, is provided for in the clauses of these credit operations.

In a press release, the bank informs that this guarantee execution procedure “is aimed at bank guarantors, not reaching the Americanas cashier”. The BNDES does not provide further details on what these guarantees are and how they are charged. There is also no information about the difficulty in executing this debt.

Americanas’ biggest loan concerns a loan taken out in 2018 in the amount of BRL 1.49 billion. The credit description says that the money was earmarked for “innovation in retail, support for retail processes and systems, general investments in stores, strengthening storage and distribution capacity”, among other projects.

The other operation – for BRL 910.4 million – is also scheduled for 2018. In this case, the financing was allocated to “innovation in digital retail, support for business growth and subsidiaries and strengthening storage and distribution capacity”, among others. other projects.
