Boa Vista International Airport, in Roraima, will have commercial flights suspended between January and February due to work on the runway. Operations were canceled from 6am this Friday (19).
In January, the suspension of activities will take place from the 19th to the 22nd and from the 26th to the 29th. In February, it will occur between the 2nd and 5th and the 23rd and 26th. Always from 6am on the first day until 10pm on the last day of each period.
In a statement, the airport's press office stated that the modifications to the runway will make it possible to definitively resolve issues linked to limitations on the runway, in addition to making it possible to receive and process domestic and international flights at the same time.
These deeper interventions aim to guarantee operational continuity, safety and increased space capacity, according to the airport, and more domestic flights can be received simultaneously.
With the works, the airport will be able to receive certification from ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency), an unprecedented event in Roraima.
The airport reported that general aviation operations (air taxis, air medical transport, among others) will not be impacted and the air network was adapted well in advance. There was planning carried out in alignment with the airlines and several public and private institutions, said the note.
