But let’s go in order: the 81-year-old singer-songwriter (Nobel Prize in Literature as well as Academy Award, Golden Globe, Grammy and BAFTA Award – among others) sent these written in his own hand to his high school girlfriend Barbara Ann Hewitt between 1957 and 1959 when he still didn’t use any stage name (born Bob Zimmerman) but was already thinking of changing it (he actually did it in 1962) and dreamed big, hoping to sell a million records ( that dream that seemed impossible has gone beyond all imagination since he has sold 125 million albums).

Private correspondence – it is about 42 letters with respective envelopes, for a total of 150 pages – was auctioned for the record figure of 670 thousand dollars after being found in 2020 by the recipient’s daughter, after her death. In addition to talking about feelings, the star recounts episodes of adolescent daily life, from music to cars.

If you think that one of his autographs recently sold for $24,000 and a collection of 24 of his poems for $250,000, the letters auction is hardly surprising. The heritage of Bob Dylanon the other hand, is estimated at around 350 million dollars.

The famous Lello bookshop in Porto, Portugal, took care of purchasing the letters, a pilgrimage destination for Harry Potter fans from all over the world because it is the place that inspired the stairs of the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry that likes a change. When the writer of the saga of the wizard (Salani) JK Rowling taught English to foreigners and lived right in the city she used to frequent this reading place, transforming it into a place loved by potterheads. Suffice it to say that the entrance has become paid, with a special external kiosk for tickets, complete with a queue.

Going back to Bob Dylan: there has been talk of him in recent days because the teen idol Timothée Chalamet, who has been in cinemas with Bones and all by Luca Guadagnino, confirmed that work is still underway to tell his life in a biopic which sees him as the protagonist in the role of the star. The 26-year-old New Yorker has been dedicating three years to preparing for the role, which is as iconic as it is delicate.
